The update centers on portrait editing, with three major tool upgrades: Skin AI gains a dedicated Blemish Removal feature on both platforms; Face AI adds Face Light and Face Slim to the mobile app, while the desktop version improves Dark Circle Removal; and Bokeh AI is rebuilt around a 3D depth model, now working for objects as well as portraits. The desktop also gets a new Mask Feather tool for softer, more natural mask edges.
Despite no prior Luminar experience, the author found both the desktop and mobile versions intuitive and impressive, particularly for portrait work. The cross-device ecosystem workflow—start on mobile, finish on desktop—is highlighted as a genuinely useful feature for on-location photographers.
Skylum provided early beta access to the Spring 2026 updates for Luminar Neo (desktop) and the newly renamed Luminar app (mobile), launching April 9. For the author, it was a first-ever experience with both products. weandthecolor.com/luminar-neo-...
