A digitally drawn and colored comic page set on a beach.
Panel 1: Kaiser in dog form is walking through the tropical vegetation on a sandy path. Some garbled nonsense speech bubbles float along, some of the words becoming clearer and saying "Haha, that's too funny!" And "chat?"
Panel 2: Kaiser's ears flick forward and perk up and his mouth is open in mild surprise. A speech bubble from him says "<Gasp> What? Did I just hear her say 'chat?'"
Panel 3: Kaiser in dog form is pictured running, and his human form is pictured as well as he shapeshifts to meet the person he's been hearing talk. Sand is being kicked up and the background has a stream of consciousness dialogue written out that's running through his mind.
Panel 4: A wide shot of a mermaid (Sally) leaning back on a mangrove tree-like cluster. She's holding up a phone for a selfie and has the other hand running through her hair. An oddly long branch(?) crosses the sand as well.
Panel 5: a headshot of Sally noticing Kaiser approach. A speech bubble says "What's going on—oh it's a dog! Oh it's? He's? A person now?"
Panel 6: Kaiser on human form with wide eyes and phone in hand says "<Pant> Can I tether to your data? <Pant> Please?"
Panel 7: Sally looks surprised and points a finger to her face in thought. "Huh? My data? Hm..." "...Oh I get it. Sorry. I, um, will often think out loud like that...It's a super dumb habit of mine, I know."
Panel 8: A dramatic shocked headshot of Kaiser as the revelation that there is no Internet access actually occurring.
2nd page of the comic.
Panel 1: A box says "A moment of recomposure later..." while Kaiser looks at Sally the mermaid and points the other way as he's about to walk away. "I'm just gonna...go. Right n—" and is cut off as his foot bumps into the strange branch. The speech bubble trails into a bubble of surprise "—?!—" I to the next panel.
Panel 2: The end of the strange branch comes to life and grabs onto Kaiser's paw foot.
Panel 3: A cartoon exaggerated Kaiser trips with an "—argh!" A "Fwoosh" sound effect and cloud of stirred up sand leads to the next panel sequence.
Panel 4: Kaiser is shown face planted down into the sand. The speech balloon is a little wobbly and says "Ugh..." One hand is starting to prop himself up on the sand the other is now touching what tripped him which quivers.
Panel 5: Kaiser is shown framed the same as the previous panel, but has propped himself up and is looking to the side as what is now revealed to be a tentacle starts to wrap around his torso. "...Crap..."
Panel 6: Again Kaiser is framed the same but is now snapped up by the tentacle wrapped around him. The cartoon exaggeration starts again. "...Shit!" He's now being lifted slightly off of the ground.
Panel 7: A very wide panel that shows the tentacle dragging Kaiser through the air, still trailing into the sand a little bit. A very long speech bubble emote from the somewhat chibi-styled panicking Kaiser that says "Fuuuuuuuu" and trails across the whole page until cut off.
Panel 8: A splash sound effect and actual splash of water covers up the rest of Kaiser's speech bubble in the previous panel.
The 3rd and last page of the comic.
Panel 1: A close up panel of Kaiser's face which is underwater. There are some bubbles in the fire ground. His eyes are scrunched shut.
Panel 2: A second close up panel but Kaiser's eyes have shot open. The bubbles continue to drift upwards.
Panel 3: A wider shot, showing Kaiser being held by a strange squid that looks somewhat like a skull. A blurry dark figure is looming in the depths behind the squid, with glowing red eyes.
Panel 4: A clearer shot of the figure behind the squid, which is an orange and black dragon with the glowing red eyes snarling (Haven). The panel is framed by some blurry tentacles as if viewed by Kaiser. An internal dialogue box says "Hang on, what is th—" and is cut off.
Panel 5: A shot of Haven's open maw and a "Snap!" sound effect.
Panel 6: A large splash panel. Haven the dragon is bursting out of the water, neck in an arc as he has his jaws clamped onto the squid holding Kaiser. Tons of water is streaming off of the two large creatures, meant to look a lot like images of whales breaching. Kaiser is held in the squid's tentacle at the top left, a dialogue bubble saying "<Cough> I need to get away from the damn oceaaaa—" which turns into a scream and the squid releases hima and another Kaiser is shown falling down towards the water.
There's always a bigger fish...
Sometimes that reminds you that you're just a fairly regular guy and that it isn't so difficult to accidentally die.
