Cherry keyboard half disassembled. The stupid screws are in a pile. The blue iFixIt triangles are also visible for forcing the back off, which was snapped in on top of being screwed in. The metal backplate is visible which at this point I'd forcibly broken off all the plastic welds holding the plastic exterior to the metal backplate.
A photo of the re-assembled keyboard. The pile of screws is still visible because I'm not putting those stupid things back in. Instead, duck tape is visible along the edges of the keyboard. The duck tape is not absolutely required due to the plastic frame snapping into place.
I'm not a #keyboard-enthusiast, I run a $20 keyboard off Amazon.
But to nobody's surprise, disassembling a $20 keyboard for cleaning is a nightmare. Proprietary screws that match nothing I have. After forcing a Phillips screwdriver, I find the frame is plastic […]
