My name is Terry Dudley. I’ve spent nearly a decade working in HIV prevention and care in Chicago, starting as a teenager volunteering in youth programs where I helped educate other young people about sexual health. Over the years I’ve worked as an HIV tester, outreach coordinator, infectious disease program manager, research consultant, and prevention specialist supporting communities impacted by HIV and substance use.
I’m also someone who has been living with HIV for the past three years. I’ve worked hard to stay in care and remain undetectable, and maintaining stability is critical to protecting my health.
Due to policy changes at my previous job and the lack of HIV prevention positions in Chicago right now, I’ve been unemployed for the past four months and was denied unemployment benefits. Despite applying widely—including outside my field—I have not yet secured work.
Because of this, I am now facing eviction and struggling to keep up with basic bills while I continue searching for employment. I’m currently working with housing programs in Chicago, but I need immediate support to stay stable.
I’m trying to raise $8,000 to cover:
• $4,000 in back rent
• $1,800 in gas bills
• $1,200 in electricity
• Food, hygiene supplies, and transportation
I’ve experienced homelessness twice before, and I’m doing everything I can to avoid that again while continuing to apply for jobs.
If you’re able to donate or share, it would mean a lot. Any support helps me stay housed, stay in care, and get back on my feet.
Thank you for reading and supporting if you can.
Hey lovelies 💖 sharing this mutual aid graphic for my friend Terry in their time of crisis, the goal is $8,000 thank you so much for any support you can give by sharing &/or donating!
