Chief Bob Day Portland Police Bureau 1111 SW 2nd Avenue Portland, OR 97204 RE: Arrest of Mr. Nicholas Sortor — Demand for Apology and Internal Investigation Dear Chief Day, As you are aware, my client, Mr. Nicholas Sortor, was recently arrested by members of the Portland Police Bureau while lawfully engaging in protected First Amendment activity. The arrest was made without probable cause and was clearly in retaliation for his efforts to expose the truth about conditions and activity in Portland to the broader public. The decision to make this arrest does not appear to have been made by a line officer, but rather by or at the direction of a member of the command staff and/or a supervising officer. Such an arrest is unconstitutional and deeply troubling. Even more concerning, this incident appears to be part of a larger pattern and practice within the Portland Police Bureau of suppressing and silencing conservative media and political activity. Last week in Roseburg, we hosted our fourth Oregon Priorities Town Hall.
One top theme was keeping communities safe. We believe every Oregonian deserves to feel safe in their home and community – and we’re working every day to make that a reality. #orpol
Yes we can! Washington just voted in a workforce standard board for the childcare industry... and Oregon can too 😀 OCPP advocates for workforce standard boards for both farm workers and long-term care workers.

AG Rayfield announces charges & convictions in 3 cases of Medicaid fraud
“Medicaid exists to make sure people can get the help they need – for their health, their housing, their children’s mental wellbeing. These cases show what’s at stake when people in positions of trust choose to exploit that system for personal gain. We will continue to hold accountable anyone who steals from Oregon’s most vulnerable residents.”
BREAKING NEWS: We just announced 3 new charges & convictions of Medicaid fraud.
Medicaid fraud hurts the most vulnerable Oregonians by taking away healthcare dollars meant for seniors, children, and people with disabilities in our communities. (1/3)

The Constitution is clear: states run elections. We’ve already beaten the president twice in court when he tried to push that boundary and meddle in elections. We're ready. #orpol

AG Rayfield files lawsuit to prevent toxic pollutants
Earlier this week, AG Rayfield and a multistate coalition filed a lawsuit to prevent toxic pollutants from entering rivers and waterways. The Trump administration recently rolled back the 2024 Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) rule — a move that would allow power plants to release more dangerous chemicals like mercury, arsenic, and lead into the environment.
“Oregon families deserve clean water and a federal government that fights for that - not one that gives pollutants a free pass. Mercury poison does not stop at state lines — it travels, deposits in rivers and waterways, and ends up in the fish people eat. Rolling back these protections puts pregnant women, children, and families across Oregon at greater risk.”
ICYMI: We filed a lawsuit earlier this week to keep mercury, arsenic, and lead out of our rivers and waterways.
We are working every day to keep Oregon families safe from pollution. #orpol
There are way better uses for our money than illegal wars since the federal government no longer works for the people nationwide and we would need an overhaul because fascism is literally everywhere and it’s unacceptable, lol!! 😂 #solidarity #orpol

The president does not - and never will - have the power to regulate elections.
This is about control.
He knows his wars and harmful economic policies are unpopular, so he's now trying to control elections.
And we're fighting back. #orpol
AG Rayfield files lawsuit to protect vote-by-mail
“The United States Postal Service has one job: to deliver the mail. President Trump is trying to give it a second one — deciding which Americans get a ballot. That is not the postal service’s role, it is not the federal government’s role, and it is not constitutional. Trump has spent years weaponizing federal agencies to prop up his false story that fraud cost him the 2020 election. He votes by mail. Oregonians vote by mail. And Oregon will keep running its own elections.”
BREAKING NEWS: We filed a lawsuit challenging the president’s executive order that threatens vote-by-mail.
The Constitution gives states – not the president – the authority to run elections. Voting by mail is safe, secure, and trusted by Oregonians across the political spectrum for decades. #orpol
At the Oregon Department of Justice, we're working every day to protect Oregonians' right to vote. #orpol

BREAKING NEWS: AG Rayfield wins court ruling protecting $39m for stable housing in Oregon
What happened: AG Rayfield just protected about $39 million for programs in Oregon that help keep people housed and lower their risk of returning to homelessness. A federal appeals court rejected the federal government’s request to put harmful restrictions on this HUD Continuum of Care grant funding – a win for Oregonians trying to get back on their feet.
"Stable housing is the foundation everything else is built on – work, health, recovery, and family. The people this program serves fought their way out of homelessness. They were rebuilding their lives. HUD’s restrictions would have taken that away, and today’s ruling stopped that from happening."
We just won a court ruling protecting about $39 million to help Oregonians stay in stable housing, and lower their risk of returning to homelessness.
