Excerpt from Rob Halford’s autobiography: “Ken and Glenn were riffing up a storm on that track, and right at the end Glenn went off on one, doing a load of crazy whammy-bar squealing that sounded absolutely fantastic. This was extremely fortunate, as Glenn had not even intended to do it. Ibiza was rife with blood-sucking mosquitos, even in January, and Glenn had heard the dreaded buzz of one zooming in to attack him just as he finished the song. The inspired whammy-bar magic was Glenn jiggling and twitching around, trying his best not to get bitten.”
One of my favourite things about #Priest is when KK and Glenn start tearing it up like the forebears of Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman “noise-not-music” (Jimmy Martin, Quietus) they are.
Top anecdote in Rob’s book about the noises Glenn makes at the close of the “Screaming for Vengeance” title track.
