Das Foto zeigt einen Holztisch, auf dem ein Tablet mit der Vorlage (English actress and singer Lily Elsie, photographed by Foulsham & Banfield, published by Rotary Photographic Co Ltd as a bromide postcard print, 1908-1909) liegt, das mit elfenbeinschwarzer Aquarellfarbe gemalte Portrait, sowie ein Pinsel und das Farbnäpfchen. Das Portrait zeigt eine junge, dunkelhaarige Frau, die von uns aus gesehen nach links blickt und im Gegensatz zum Original kein weißes, sondern ein schwarzes Kleid trägt, das teilweise aus Tüll und mit Blumen besticktem Stoff besteht.
