Further expanding this into a full blown "wallpaper" (it doesn't meet up the apropriate size to fit in for the current day monitor, but you could still technically work around this if you could) thing was not part in the script. The process was slow if you didn't figure out by now. I could only count the times I kept coming back to both add things and polish the said things as I desired. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy doing that at all btw. I'm very much happy with the end results actually coming together when I wasn't certain. As to why I did this... I dunno, I was feeling nostalgic after stumbling upon some images where the stock renders of some characters from various popular series (although it was from Shaman King in my case) would be pasted onto those vortex/web styled backgrounds that have no rhyme or reason other than to make that look cool... and it sure did have an effect on me. I think there are some old fansites or even dA that still has these, you'll just need to look hard enough though. Enjoy having to think about that philosophical question! God, I need to try to draw more, I've been lazing around too much... well, besides the fact that I got food poisoning before I got to work at all and got bedridden for two days. It only has been months since the first in this year. This WAS supposed to be a Mother's Day art piece if could tell by the subtleties, but to no one's surprise, I got late yet again. To be honest though, that happens on different days depending on the region based on my knowledge. Heck, in our motherland, ours falls on Women's Day being 8th march. Although I've seen others state that it's actually 4th may, or 11th? Ehhhhh, just take it as is. The initial plan though? I was going to go for the "so adorable it's funny" approach by having them cosplay as Dragon Ball characters, specifically Bulma and Vegeta since I recall drawing Smollusk with Trunks' little cat hat on. (I'm sure there's a doodle of Pearl wearing the "Bad Girl" shirt somewhere), but went against it because it didn't feel in line with the day itself, and I had trouble choosing any of Bulma's outfits onto Marina's. Most of these just... didn't fit her, I suppose it's the hair (don't take it as the end all be all, I will be revisiting this in one way). Then I found myself doodling out sketches and this is the closest I've gotten. Also the text on the top right corner. It's probably 8 writing this. He may be quiet in my sick delusional fartasies, but he's got his poetry skills intact even though it may not look like much here. You'll still have to translate it though, tehe. (god I haaate how slow the writing speed in this site has gotten, what the heck even causes this??) Enjoy the view! Not much to elaborate upon this other than the fact that I believe somebody ought to paint octopuses on eggs due to their funny shape when placed upside down (try to make this into a headcanon, even if it seems pointless). Because all of it is done in a couple of hours, most of the details come out rushed as a result. Granted the perspective and the smaller image size might be just as faulty. I've stumbled myself into art block at the moment (no shock) so things are probably gonna go slow as I try to take a break hoping I could get the spark going. I also might be going back on drawing simpler drawings because of this (speaking of which, I remember that I still got the said drawings from a couple months back that I have yet to share, just gonna need to clean them). Also whoever is holding the Lil'Squirt Egg might be Pearl, but it could also be Eight due to the vague shape of the fingers. Imagiiiiine. Happy Easter! I've been aching to draw these two in essentially THE best splatfest outfits know to man (besides DC's frostyfest outfits for obvious reasons) and I've eventually found a better place once I remembered I've sketched them playing their instruments based on their first ever splatfest's artworks (and it's certainly not the cake vs ice cream one despite it being a classic, I've left the hints on the piece itself) and they were initially wearing the default performance outfits. Also yes, I still went ahead to snuck in their baby besides them too, I told you I'm mean. Also whoever came up with the idea about Lil'Squirt's favourite music instrument deserves a medal. I was initially going to hold off on posting this for at least 2 days since my favourite Splatfest happens to turn a year old soon, even though this artwork is barely about it at all, but I'm a little too happy about the end results, so there you go. Probably the very first I've succesfully replicated the "traditional" feel since I basically maneuvered my mouse like a pencil. And the filter. Enjoy the listening to their music. It's the first year anniversay to Splatoon 3's Side Order DLC, so naturally I would be inclined to make an illustration for this special occasion like many favourite games of mine. Except it's moreso centered around the Lil'Squirt (certainly not getting sick of the name and don't plan on retiring that anytime) and it's comfort toys (or friends I suppose, are they?). It is a newborn in the DLC as stated by the dev interviews, so unlike others where their birthdays happen to be marked so by their debut of their game (sorry blue hedgehog), it actually makes sense here. This happened after sketching the little guy for fun like it's been an eternity until I nailed the one where it's holding on strings (plus I like how I drew its happy eyes). I thought about giving an actual swing, but then immediately went with balloons... because I get to use the Drizzling Capricciosos acting as these, so of course it's better (Tbf, I don't even think they're that bad after fighting them several times, they die off pretty easily... the WHIRLING ACCELERANDOS THOUGH). That being said, their designs (besides Smolly) where very tricky to nail down in my style and I shuddered when I considered about adding in the rest in the background despite the oval shape containing it is relatively small (I'm certainly not good about drawing robots, the angular and especially complex ones at least). Although maybe I tend to have a habit on focusing on foreground characters/elements a lot more than the ones in the back. Guess I can't win at everything. I do at least hope you enjoy looking a TinyOrder having the time of its life celebrating its birthday. Give out some comments here if you want to talk about it or even fave it if you like it.
