The image is taken from the other side of an inlet and the grass is visible in the foreground leading down to the,slightly choppy, sea in strong sunshine. Beyond the sliver of sea are tall black cliffs, smooth in appearance and curving down sharply to the water with a some erosion towards the sea; particularly on the left of the image. At the top of these cliffs the grass starts to dominate the rock face and beyond the top of the cliffs a series of linear fields following the undulations of the landscape are visible. One of the fields in the background has a herd of cattle in it.

The north west corner tower ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle built right above the sea cliffs below. Dunstanburgh Castle is a 14th-century fortification on the coast of Northumberland in northern England, between the villages of Craster and Embleton. The castle was built by Thomas, 2nd Earl of Lancaster between 1313 and 1322, taking advantage of the site's natural defences and the existing earthworks of an Iron Age fort.
