The way it's edited here makes it seem like this is literally his first thought after getting the offer, and it's so funny, because it gives the (probably true) impression that he got one, slight piece of encouragement, and he was like, "I'm not some dumb school videographer anymore! I'm a filmmaker now!" Hilarious.
I DIED laughing when he said, "Now, I'm a film director," bc every dickhead that gets put in this position (including, once, me; I've also written and/or directed a couple of low-stakes club theatre productions) immediately gets an inflated sense of their own vision and self-worth, and the way this is set up makes it so funny and charming. I'm sure it's mostly true, too, and it's funny that this guy signed off on that choice.
Omg, so the context for this is that Pasha's resigned, but he gets an offer from a European #film production company to use his footage as part of a #documentary (what will become #MrNobodyAgainstPutin), & it goes to his head IMMEDIATELY as he has to go un-resign 😆
