When I was in Japan recently every time I saw a cherry tree in bloom it was surrounded by people taking pictures. I really believe palo verde bloom is just as beautiful and should also have as many people taking pictures with them.

This cholla produces a goregous, bright yellow flower (Usually in May, not end of March/early April). Peach colored hints surround the other flower petals.
Male Gambel's quail (with the curved feather from his forehead pointing down toward his beak) perches on top of a branch. I always wonder how they can see with that dingle-bopper in the way! Background pale yellow from palo verde blooms, and in top right, off-focus is a train trestle's crisscrosses.

A week ago Saturday, we went on a drive out Shea Road along the wash outside of Parker, Arizona to go searching for big blooming Palo Verde trees. This one was lovely.

Photo of a delicate nest made by cardinals: really small grasses, twigs and a fairly deep cup.
A female cardinal hops to the side of the nest while I'm photographing it (with a zoom). Her orange beak and reddish feathers are a giveaway for her species.
I was pretty sure of who was in this nest in the #paloverde tree (see the white of the eggs when you zoom in?)
Confirmed when she flew in right while I was standing there. #NorthernCardinal

This tiny yellow bird is the exact same soft yellow as the blooms of a desert palo verde. She perches on a branch, eating an inchworm.
I love this time of year when the birds are the same color as the trees. I think this is a little #warbler in the #PaloVerde. She has a worm in her beak!
