It was definitely easier for me to engage in my special interest 'space' since more people seem to share an interest in that rather than 'fungi'.

#redinstead was a big thing maybe ten years ago ish? Many people don't like blue for a couple reasons. The main one for me is that blue was selected because autism was considered a boys thing. Back in the day all the Autism Speaks explainers said we light it up blue for all the boys. 1/x

I loved watching these things develop. It was out of discussions on Wrong Planet of being represented by symbols that I devised my impossible cube interlocked with an impossible cylinder.

Regarding Colors …
Gold is embraced due to word play. Autism starts with “Au” and Gold’s atomic abbreviation is “Au”.
Red is embraced as part of the #RedInstead movement, a rejection of organizations that speak over Autistic ppl.
