#ShadowTower is one of the most oppressive PS1 games I've ever played. That darkness NEVER lets up, and it seems to get worse over time. I would chalk it up to a short draw distance, but there are ways to increase it (torch, bottle of light, etc) so it's not a technical limitation. It's deliberate.
