#GoogleQuant is a game changer for #LocalAI. Once we see models incorporating it, one can run larger than 30b on 32 GB of #VRAM on processor platforms like #Intel.
Maybe even a 30b qant4 on 24GB of ram on say an #Intel B60 GB.
Google has this advantage to use it in the #GEMMA4 open source series.
Intel, is doing it to gain #VRAM market share, hardware platform investment in their #LocalAI hardware now. Just as they did with #CPU chips.
#Nvidia can't pivot to cannibalize datacenter sales, and has actively risen prices to avoid that as optimizations like #TurboQuant by #Google are made.
The shift to #LocalAI is here. The issue is local #VRAM cost. #GPU cards from #Nvidia are crazy expensive, obviously this plays into their strategy of pushing cloud datacenter compute by making local cost prohibitive.
