A mostly tan and light brown ground squirrel is on all fours with its mouth wide open (presumably screaming "Alan") next to the dirt surrounding its burrow entrance. Around the burrow and squirrel is a lot of brown grass and poplar twigs.
Despite the yo-yo's in weather, including flurries this morning, there are lots of Richardson's ground squirrels up and about.
