I wonder if any of my #histscalemodels friends is particularly knowledgeable about paper coffee cups. I'm planning on using this figure, but in a scene set in the 1960s. How prevalent were paper coffee cups around this time? Obviously no Starbucks logo, but I've read they were in use in the 60s...

5. In the workshop, a new width indicator on the go. Rolled a couple of balls, oh matron, when they are dry I'll get it sorted. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

4. A few glamour shots with some figures, I popped the width indicator putting these on. It flew never to be seen again. Overall it is a very good scale to work on. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

3. The Trumpeter is between £90 and £130, the das Werk is £64. I know there is a size difference but detail isn't as good. Maybe a reboot to include engine etc would be good. You can see the comparison in these images #histscalemodels #scalemodels

2. No engine, the engine covers could be open but its a void. There is no independent suspension, its fixed, so no movement. The rear track wheels can turn, the front ones if not glued work loose. The Das Werk kit has far more options like engine etc. Cont #histscalemodels #scalemodels

1. Imagine heavy. Completed, the 1/16 scale Trumpeter Sd.Kfz.251D. An east build for the scale. Nothing challenging. Im pleased with the over outcome. It's certainly a great scale to build in. Some things could have been better, cont #histscalemodels #scalemodels

Sea King is very go-stop-go. I hate dead model time. Been working on a #buildthestash side project. Ferret Mk2, kept her clean as it's a training unit. Airfix 1/35.

It's finished. The most accomplished build I've ever done - a Panther kit given to me as a present in 2024. Hopefully the last Panther I'll ever build! Kit, Zimmerit stickers and photo-etch by Tamiya. Metal tracks by Friulmodel. Cables by Eureka. Art by me (and Earl Cat). #HistScaleModels

Calling International #histscalemodels Rescue!

How do I remove masking tape (the yellow atuff but not Tamiya) sticky residue from a transparency? It had been on there for about two years.

Front view of the Revell routemaster with the front panels partially complete and loose fitted to check fit and gaps in the paint at the pre-painted panel joins, no bonnet showing the completed engine. Picture is taken agains an unusually tidy workbench

Nowhere near finished yet, but starting to look more like a bus than a collection of bits #histscalemodels #routemaster

I've been busy masking and painting a pair of 737s. The Welsh Models -500 is more or less ready for decals (apart from the engine intake rings), while the Airfix -200 still needs some more paint work.

Dry fitting of the overwing missile rails for the 1/72 hasegawa Jaguar GR.1

Dry fitting of the overwing missile rails for the 1/72 hasegawa Jaguar GR.1

The original plan was to use the more accurate Revell overwing missile rails instead of Hasegawa's. But too much hassle to make them fit properly.
No locator pins on the originals, so I made my own. Dry fitting looks good.
Next: I need to start painting the cockpit. #scalemodeling #histscalemodels

Schmincke Oil thinned with Shellsol-T works well on Vallejo colors. A bit subtle maybe, but in 1/72 its easily overdone.

Getting closer with the 1/72 MikroMir Canberra TT.18. Panel rescribing has segued to weathering. Just a few more touches and I'll leave it that. 100 Squadron Canberras often looked very weathered, hence their nickname, the Tatty Ton. #histscalemodels

This has become The Cursed Project. The kit supplies the wrong canopy. At least these old Carpena decals are behaving!
