We see either God Himself or the Angel of Death flying over a Jewish home as the family eats a lamb. The blood of the lamb would have been painted on the top & sides of the doorframe of the house as a sign for Death to pass over that home. Hence, the name of the holiday.

Here is the text from Exodus: “That same night I will pass through Egypt and kill the first-born son in every family and the first-born male of all animals. I am the Lord, and I will punish the gods of Egypt. The blood on the houses will show me where you live, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. Then you won't be bothered by the terrible disasters I will bring on Egypt. Remember this day and celebrate it each year as a festival in my honor.” ~ ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭12‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭CEV

Passover begins tonite at dusk. So today I share by Marc Chagall (1887-1985), ”The Israelites eat the Passover Lamb,” 1931. I was unable to track down the location of the painting for certain, but I believe it may be in the Marc Chagall National Museum in Nice, France. #chagall #passover

This photograph captures the renowned artist Marc Chagall working on his large-scale mural, The Triumph of Music, in his Paris studio in 1966.
The Triumph of Music was commissioned for the lobby of the new Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in New York City.
The mural is one of two massive panels, each measuring approximately 30 by 36 feet, that Chagall painted for this location.
The painting process took place in Paris, after which the finished panels were shipped to New York for installation.
Chagall's design for the murals was inspired by his earlier work designing sets and costumes for a production of Mozart's The Magic Flute.
