After the picture description, I have a short poem I wrote for this shot. Our photograph captures a dramatic twilight sky, where streaks of deep blue and bright turquoise mingle with patches of fiery orange and grey. Wisps of cloud twist and scatter across the heavens, some thick and dark, others light and ghostly. The sun is setting low on the horizon, hidden behind a line of silhouetted trees whose bare branches and sparse leaves form dark lace against the glowing sky. The scene feels both calm and foreboding as if nature holds its breath before nightfall and finally our picture is finished with a white border frame. And now my Poem… “When the Sky Holds Its Breath” Beneath the ink of fading day, The restless clouds begin to play. They weave in whispers, dusk to dawn, As light retreats, the warmth withdrawn. Through branches black, the last flames die, Their glow reflected in the sky. A hush descends, both sweet and grim, The world grows still, the edge grows dim. And in that pause, where colours meet, Night folds its cloak, serene, discreet. For even darkness, soft and wide, Can hold a secret light inside.

After the picture description, we will have tonight’s horrifying tale… The picture shows a dramatic and almost otherworldly sky. It is filled with thick, swirling clouds in intense shades of blue and black. The center glows with a burst of white light, piercing through the darkness like an opening to another realm. The clouds twist and form eerie shapes, and within the glowing mass, the shadows appear to outline what looks like a vast, ghostly face, its eyes hollow and its expression unreadable. The surrounding darkness seems to pulse outward, as if the sky itself is alive. Our picture is finished off with a white border frame. And now tonight’s tale of terror…. I call it….The Face Beyond the Sky It began as a strange shimmer in the clouds one October evening. The air was unnaturally still, and every bird had vanished from the trees. When people looked up, they saw the light forming, spreading like a wound in the heavens. Then came the outline: two hollow eyes, a slant of a mouth, and the vague suggestion of an enormous alien face gazing down from the storm. At first, no one believed what they were seeing. Cameras failed to capture it clearly, and those who stared too long swore they heard a low humming in their heads, like a language too old to comprehend. Scientists said it was a coincidence of cloud and light,just pareidolia but the air itself vibrated with something alive. That night, the radio stations across the world picked up the same frequency: a pulsing signal repeating three times, then silence. When dawn came, the clouds had cleared, but scorched into the atmosphere was a faint circular mark where the “face” had been. No one speaks of it openly anymore. But every few years, under certain magnetic storms, the same face appears in the same patch of sky, watching, waiting, as if checking to see whether we’ve learned to listen. Sleep well my friends…

The picture shows an unusual cloud formation taken from my back garden here in Ireland. Looking from the bottom of the picture up, we see a small tree to the left and the tops of houses and other bushes expanding to the right bottom of the frame. All of these are in heavy silhouette. Above that we have a unusual cloud formation which is a mixture of greys, blacks ,oranges pinks and reds which is being lit by the brilliance of the setting sun off camera to the left as we see it. If you look closely within that deep orange cloud, two black birds have been caught in flight going across it as well to give the sense of scale to our picture. The rest of the sky is a uniformed light blue and it gets dark darker into almost black as it rises to the top of the picture. To finish our shot, it has a white border frame.

The picture shows a beautiful orange, yellow and golden sunrise with the sun radiating through a wonderful cloud formation around 6am one morning last week here in Ireland. The clouds are more intense at the bottom of our picture as is the clouds that make the sky look like it’s been scorched by fire with a heavy sun beam projecting from the centre to the left of frame. The colours are as described above in a Cornucopia of reds, oranges, yellows, golds pinks and even deep blacks with the clouds “bubbling” like ripples across a light blue sky. Finally, our picture is finished with a white thin border frame.
