An above-view of a black and shiny beetle about a centimetre long crawling on a concrete seawall. There were dozens about, and many were on the wing.
The same beetle, but from a more side-on angle.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get it better focused, but I'm thinking this might be Amara familiaris, as it was in profusion on my walk along the coast last Friday. A species of Amara, for sure, but I read that this one likes the seaside 🙂 #Insects #Beetles #GroundBeetles | #Kent #England

Strawberry seed beetle <3 found him inside, very speedy, very friend shaped. They're European but I'm pretty sure harmless and actually really useful, eating crop pests like slugs and aphids!
