#HotTake but also #OldTake: The Windows 8 Start screen was fine and, in fact, was a good try because they saw the world moving towards touch devices being peoples primary mode of computing and wanted Windows to reflect that shift. It was a risky bet that didn't pay off, but I admire the gamble.

#hottake lots of competition is not by default good for consumers. IE canadian telecom is in a price war to the bottom, good for people but ultimatley is eroding revenue, increasing debt reducing investment. in the long run erodes service and harms consumers. Some is good, lots bad for everyone.

i think we give "careers" too much weight and it limits us. we can do and get paid for what we want. coding, marketing, product, games, medical research. i did those and never got a degree in a single one. ofc not for highly regulated practices like doctors, but biological research? why not #hottake
