Variation in Nepenthes Rokko “Exotica” x palawanensis. Uniform coloration and thick peristomes seem to be standard.

Am I finally succeeding with Nepenthes campanulata? Seems to like a pinch of shade interestingly…but that’s the best pitcher I’ve yet seen. Classic upside down bell shape.

Nepenthes ramispina x truncata, a large and slender but very dark brown/purple pitcher, and robcantleyi x (aristolochioides x spectabilis), smaller but fatter and more mottled-striped with green, red, and purple
#nepenthes #carnivorousplants #plants #botany #gardening
Nepenthes bellii x robcantleyi bouncing back rapidly after the repot. It’s yet to flower, but it makes a lot of big chunky traps. Didn’t inherit the dark color of rob sadly, but the contrast of lime green peristome and purple is attractive

When it comes to simple hybrids, it’s hard to beat the spectacular and easy nature of Nepenthes ventricosa x spectabilis. Chunky, flared peristomes, and bright reds that quickly age to this deep purple and black.

Which do you prefer, lighter and multicolor stripes, or dark and chocolate-red?
Both are sibling Nepenthes (veitchii x burbidgeae) x stenophylla I got as freebies a while back, that just got a much-needed pot upgrade.

The fattest Nepenthes rafflesiana that ever did live…or possibly just introgressed with ampullaria. Its siblings are all more or less normal raff though, with similar coloring…

Comparison of pitchers on Nepenthes ventricosa x sibuyanensis clone B, and A.
Clone A is currently still available in the Shop

Pitcher plant trap with a striped peristome and a prominent glandular crest on the bottom of the lid. Both the inside and outside surfaces of the pitcher are densely mottled.

pitcher plants - #Nepenthes?
not #orchids
A cylindrical inch tall pitcher with mottled maroon colors, hairy fringed wings down the front, and a teardrop shaped slanted mouth ringed by a thin peristome with pronounced ribs; the interior is purple.
This little Nepenthes nigra has been behaving like a dwarf for some time now but still making toothy dark pitchers. Once it’s lifted up in better soil and not shaded out by vines soon to be chopped I expect it will get far darker again too

Lower and upper pitchers, separated by about 15 feet of vine now, on Nepenthes longifolia. Still need it to bloom…

A fully opened pitcher displays its waxy inner surface. The pitcher lid is dried and papery at the tip.
A mottled red pitcher plant trap with a flattened, green peristome dangles from the end of a short tendril.
#Nepenthes mirabilis, a member of the #Nepenthaceae sometimes referred to as the common swamp pitcher-plant, is the most widespread species in the genus. This plant was sold to me as Nepenthes mirabilis ‘Red’. It features a mottled red pitcher body.
#PitcherPlant #CarnivorousPlants #bloomscrolling
Two side by side tubby lower pitchers of ventricosa x talangensis clone C, with mottled green and red pitchers and a broad rounded peristome that is lighter cherry on the middle trap, darker purple on the older left trap. To the right is an upper, more slender and funnel shaped with lighter overall colors and a thinner peristome
The complex hybrid, with a nearly cylindrical but fatter oval-bottomed trap bearing a thin but crenellated peristome, the whole thing deep maroon except the lighter pink-purple interior
The two repot-and-trim plants tonight: Nepenthes ventricosa x talangensis HC C (showing two lowers and an upper) and (ventricosa x sibuyanensis) x (spathulata x mira). Both have remained quite small trap-wise and the second has yet to vine

I don’t know what changed, but suddenly Nepenthes truncata x boschiana has started leaping in size. Each leaf is twice the area of the last and the pitchers increasing accordingly. As hoped, it looks like it’ll turn into a giant boschiana.

3 inch tall Heathrow the Hedgehog is in no danger of being eaten by the pitcher plants, but they are similarly sized

Cherry red and cream mottled pitcher with a notable hip in the middle, tiny wings running up the front, and a thick red peristome. Gripped to the right by fingers, thumbnail almost as wide as the pitcher for scale
Nepenthes hamiguitanensis!
This Philippines species is thought to have originated as a natural hybrid possibly between micramphora and peltata. These chunky lowers eventually give way to often ghostly pale or highly mottled flaring uppers
#nepenthes #carnivorousplants #plants #botany #horticulture
A harry pitcher with prominent wings running down its front and a broad, yellow-and-red-striped peristome. The pitcher body blushes orangish-pink in places exposed to the greatest amount of light. The bottom of the lid glistens with nectar.

Lower pitcher on Nepenthes robcantleyi x maxima BE-3428. This plant got a much-needed soil wash and repot and will hopefully take off shortly; it’s capable of producing some very large pitchers and is a known female.

This one never hits wrong: Nepenthes burbidgeae x platychila. Wish it was a little easier to root but sadly seems to have inherited the burb dislike of rooting cuttings somewhat…

Nepenthes tenuis, with a lovely little upper.
As far as the “toilet” pitchers go, this is definitely the easiest for me, and still awaiting the maturity of several crosses I made with the pollen it produced a couple years ago.
#nepenthes #carnivorousplants #pitcherplant #botany #plants
Narrow-lipped, green pitcher with faint red mottling on the inside and a reddish blush on the outside. The pitcher is narrow, tall, and without distinct wings (though there are two ridges running down the front).

IT'S A BOY!!!
My #Nepenthes rajah x platychila is flowering!!! I have never had any of my Neps flower before! So excited! Guess I'll need to plan on saving the pollen in the freezer for hopefully use later. 🥲 #carnivorousplants #nepenthesrajahxplatychila #rajah #platychila #plants #vivosun
