Science Comic:
Does glucose increase the effects of stress on memory?
Participants drank water or a glucose drunk. They went through a stressful or a friendly job interview. Objects were placed around the room and on the table. Participants learned 30 positive, neutral and negative words.
Glucose consumption before stress led to higher concentrations of cortisol in their saliva (stress indicator). Participants were more likely to remember positive and negative words than neutral ones, and objects with which interviewers had interacted than those in the background. Especially under stress. Glucose does not appear to have played a major role in memory in this experiment.
We have a new #ScienceComic published: How does glucose affect stress and memory? 🔥
